Family Law - helping you when relationships break down

The days of the typical married family with 2.4 children are long gone and the reality of many families today is often far more complex. You may be married, co-habiting, separated, have step children living with you or have other family members such as grand parents involved in child care.

Whatever the family situation, if relationships break down, having a family solicitor who is knowledgeable and sympathetic can help resolve any disputes as quickly and painlessly as possible.

The Family team at BG Solicitors LLP specialise in divorce and separation, cohabitation issues, financial disputes and pension sharing as well as child related issues.

They can advise in all matters that arise out of a relationship breakdown, whether that relationship is a marriage, partnership or same sex partnership. If children are involved, we advise not only on disputes between parents or other family relations, we also offer advice in more serious situations where Social Services need to become involved.

We pride ourselves on being able to see our clients in a matter of days rather than weeks, as is the case with many of the larger practices, so our clients leave our office knowing where they stand and what can be achieved on their behalf.

There is much confusion about the legalities of separation and divorce and we make sure that, however complex, our clients understand and know their options.

Specialist Family Mediation services

We also have trained family mediation specialists. Mediation is becoming increasingly popular as it is a highly effective (and far less stressful) way of resolving issues surrounding children and finances that can be a result of a break-up of a relationship.

Mediation involves using an impartial third party (the Mediator) in a joint session with both parties and aims to resolve issues without the need to go to court.

Family Mediation is also one of the few areas that is still eligible for Legal Aid to eligible parties.
