Collaborative Law

Collaborative law is a relatively new way of dealing with family disputes. Each person appoints their own solicitor, but instead of conducting negotiations between you and your partner by letter or telephone, you meet together to work things out, face to face in a four-way meeting.

Each of you will have your solicitor with you for the whole process for support and also to offer legal advice as you go. The aim is to resolve family disputes without the need to go to Court.

Collaborative Law allows for prompt, honest and open disclosure between the parties. And, because the process is not driven by a timetable imposed by the Court, the process can be built around your family’s individual timetable and priorities resulting in less stress and more dialogue.

Almost any aspect of Family Law can be dealt with under the collaborative process.
