Inside BG Solicitors
Since 1944
At BG Solicitors LLP we pride ourselves retaining the values and approach of a family practice.
We were established in 1944 and generations of happy clients, both individuals and businesses, have put their trust in us.
“We give all of our clients the time and support that they need. No clock ticking, no conveyor belt of clients and no long wait for appointments, just considered and individual advice delivered face to face by our team of legal specialists.”
BG Solicitors is one of the oldest established practices in Grimsby, set up by the late Mr Tom Beetenson on 1st January 1944. He was joined in 1953 by Lawrence Gibbon and their initials still remain as the name of our firm. Since those early days, the Practice has grown steadily and is now one of the largest and most respected in the area. Our clients, both private and commercial, demand a first-class legal service, and through our commitment to quality standards throughout all areas of the practice, we ensure that’s exactly what they receive.
The original BG base in Grimsby remains our largest office space, occupying a convenient central location with excellent access to public transport as well as nearby parking. In 2007 we incorporated the business and staff of Louth based Scammell & Braithwaite into BG Solicitors LLP and acquired our first satellite office. The merging of this well-respected firm into our own means that we now have a central Louth office, serving the needs of not only the local Louth clients but also those from the many surrounding villages.
Following the success of this venture, BG Solicitors established a base in Scunthorpe in 2010, taking over the firm of Martin & Haigh in the town. This gave us a fantastic opportunity to expand for the first time into North Lincolnshire. In 2013 we became an LLP and changed our name to BG Solicitors LLP, but our values and approach remain those of a family practice. In 2016 we acquired the well known firm of Keith Ready & Co in Barton upon Humber on Keith’s retirement, further establishing our base in North Lincolnshire and developing an office that is also proving convenient for clients on the North Bank of the Humber.
In 2022 we moved across the river to Hessle and acquired Devine Law further cementing our presence on the North bank. The addition of Devine Law introduced a significant and broad range business, company and commercial law advice , including all commercial property sales and purchases and leases for both landlords and tenants, drafting bespoke contracts and preparation of terms and conditions of business, selling businesses (small and large) and handling complex and significant company share sales.
